Announcing New Pathways | Canada

New Pathways, a training and immersion program for non-profit organizations that want to learn more about innovative strategies for problem solving, is expanding into Canada.

We are pleased to announce the international expansion of our multi-year programs in adaptive change for the arts and culture sector, from the United States to Canada. Two New Pathways for the Arts programs have launched recently in the province of Alberta, Canada: New Pathways for the Arts | Edmonton, and New Pathways for the Arts | Calgary. Further programs across Canada are expected in 2015 and 2016.

Designed in partnership with a local host agency, the New Pathways program is designed to enable the growth of participating organizations’ adaptive capacity. The program is structured around a combination of six different components:

  1. A preliminary analysis of the organizational capacity of all the selected participants
  2. A sequence of hands-on Workshops led by EmcArts facilitators, taking place either in-person or virtually
  3. Participant-led Community Convenings or Participant Forums designed by a guiding group of program participants
  4. On-site Coaching for a selection of the participating organizations, as follow-up to the Workshops
  5. Train-the-Trainer program in which local consultants are trained to deliver adaptive coaching work in the future
  6. The opportunity for an individually facilitated “deep dive” into Incubating Innovation around a particular project

New Pathways for the Arts | Calgary

New Pathways for the Arts | Calgary will develop a learning community of 15 not-for-profit organizations in Calgary and Southern Alberta that operate under an arts mandate or undertake arts programs in pursuit of their mission. Over the next three years, participating organizations will explore the challenges and opportunities facing the sector, develop leadership and community engagement strategies, and learn about adaptive approaches to complex challenges through workshops, forums, an in-depth “train the trainer” program, and more.
