Welcome and Introduction
Ronald B. Richard, President and CEO, Cleveland Foundation

On November 2, 2011, representatives from the Cleveland arts community gathered at The Idea Center at PlayhouseSquare for the first day-long Seminar of the Engaging The Future program co-hosted by the Cleveland Foundation and EmcArts.  This seminar consisted of two interactive presentation and facilitated activities with guest speakers: Peter Kageyama, author of For the Love of Cities and Devon Smith, Director of Social Media at Threespot and social media for social good blogger.

This video archive collects various video segments from that event to share with other members of the Cleveland arts community.  The Welcome and Introduction includes remarks from Ronald Richard (video 1), Kathleen Cerveny (video 2), and Richard Evans (video 3).  For the Love of Cleveland is Peter Kageyama’s section (videos 4-6) and, after a quick introduction by Richard Evans (video 7), Devon Smith’s section is entitled Social Media and the Arts: Emerging Tools and Engagement Techniques (video 8).  We have two Responses to the guest speakers from members of the Cleveland community, Joy Roller (video 9) and Patrick Shepherd (video 10).  The seminar concludes with a Conversation with the guest speakers (video 11) and final closing remarks (video 12).
