EmcArts’ new online services offer personal reinforcement for your role as a leader, and support for your team or organization to move forward in complexity and confusion. Please use our process facilitators as deeply engaged friends and colleagues, mentors, coaches and sounding-boards to support your work and your health wherever you are now. And please take advantage of the insights and learning we’ve accumulated over 15 years of adaptive work to help you identify your own ways forward, and to recognize your courage and mental toughness in committing to change.
Over the next two months, we’re offering a variety of free opportunities for individual and organizational support, specifically aimed at helping you move out of disorder and respond meaningfully and adaptively to your situation. Through providing weekly online articles, virtual “office hours,” weekly online sessions, and facilitated network-building, we hope to provide you with the tools you need. If there are other ways we can support you in this time, please don’t hesitate to contact us at info@artsfwd.org.
The call to adapt our thinking, our programs, our structures and our means of delivery has never been so pressing. And nowhere more so than for organizations like ours and yours that serve the public interest. How do we begin, or accelerate, our adaptive work in these extra-ordinary and restrictive conditions? How can we create new public value – giving our participants equally extra-ordinary but liberating experiences through art? Most important, how can we keep going, and not just retreat and hope for better times. We’ll post articles here on ArtsFwd each week that will include guidance for leaders and teams on remaining adaptive and using the adaptive muscles that may serve you best right now.
Coping with immediate loss and pervasive fear, we may be feeling a kind of paralysis – What should we do? What can I do? Do we stop altogether, or radically rethink? Who might we talk to?
These online conversations will be with an experienced EmcArts process facilitator to support your individual leadership efforts at this time. Take a moment out of your day to join a group conversation with others across the country, offering peer-to-peer sharing and feedback. The sessions will run throughout April and beyond, registration in advance.

We want to support you in any way that we can. If you are interested in a one-on-one conversation or a team conversation (up to 5 people) facilitated by an EmcArts process facilitator, please reach out to us at info@artsfwd.org or feel free to contact our facilitators directly.
To help leaders and staff in any role make real progress out of disorder and into viable futures, offering frameworks for adaptive practice and examples from practitioners alongside dialogue with peers. These 60-minute weekly sessions will began on Tuesday, April 14th at 1pm EST. The first session will offered the opportunity for participants to share their topmost concerns at this disorienting time, and benefit from the perspectives of others. We will then consider ways to fully understand the wrenching dynamics of current conditions, and apply a sense-making framework to help you move forward beyond crisis management. Later sessions will support your journey of grappling with the complex challenges you face. Compassionate guidance from an EmcArts facilitator will be offered to support you in your work. Register here for our final session on May 5th.
A key ingredient in navigating deep complexity is to reach out to new or more diverse networks to access novel perspectives and build coalitions. An EmcArts facilitator will work with you to design, curate and run customized online convenings. Let us know if this would be valuable for you and we’ll be in touch directly.
Grantmakers and service organizations, please contact us at info@artsfwd.org about making these services available in forms tailored to your grantees and constituents.
